Senzig Saga

Lansing

With the advent of World War II, jobs opened up in the factory
city of Lansing, Michigan. My father, Joe, married Marge Wilcox
and had two children born in Ashland and we all headed down
for my dads first real job at Bendix. My two younger brothers
were born in Lansing. My dad was 33 and was drafted into the
Army, but the Army officer in charge at the factory was reported
to have told the draft board that for his factory to build trucks
and tanks for the war effort, he needed to have Joe Senzig and
the draft notice was rescinded. My dad went on to REO which became
White Motors and spent most of his career as a liaison engineer.
He was involved in testing the designs and going to the Army bases
as the factory rep. Marge was a nurse.

Ken, the oldest, went to work for the highway department and then
went over to private construction companies. He could build
anything and make it work.

I, the second, was the jock of the family and went on to a career
of coaching, teaching and school administration.

Steve opened the first computer store in the State of Michigan
and became a pioneer in computer programming. He programmed all
of the robots on the assembly lines in the Detroit car factories
as they became automated. He served in Viet Nam.

David, as a sound engineer traveled with touring bands and then
settled down as the sound engineer for a TV station.
