Senzig Saga

Nick Moves to Ashland, Wisconsin

The French born children were all becoming adults and one at a time they
began to leave the farm. Nicolas, named after his father, had died in
infancy in France, so my Grandfather, Jean Nicolas, always went by Nick.
He moved away to Ashland a few hundred miles to the North. There he met
Sarah Riordon who had been born in Tralee Ireland and their family
of twelve children included my father, Joseph Senzig. My grandfathers
two French born brothers, Peter and Johann, Also moved to Northern Wisconsin.

Bede wrote all the names of the people down.
Back row left to right Elizabeth, Sarah (Mathiowitz),
John Nicholas, Mary (Baaz), Clarence, George.
Second Row Dad John Nicholas, Loretta (Perrier),
Alvina (Kerr), Mother Sarah Riordan, Joseph. Girl
below Loretta is Margaret (Young). Bernard "Bede"
is on the chair. Baby is Milton. Bede had written
on his map of the picture "Here we are. All 12 of
us. This was 1918. We've improved."

Nick and Sarah’s 12 children spread out all over the country. Some to
neighboring States (Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois) but some farther
away. (California, Texas and New Jersey) Some of the Riordan family is
still in Ashland, but there are no more Senzigs there.
