Richard and Frances Ressler and his poem about the Senzig children
Frances and Richard Ressler lived across from the Senzig farm for a lifetime. They were family friends for many years.
The families were close. Richard and Frances were my son Bob’s godparents. When I first met them, they lived in a
building that was part of the barn not unlike the ones we saw in Germany. Richard built a new house that he designed.
When we visited, we were delighted by his little dog that did all kinds of tricks.
Richards father William was from Austria and his mother Agnes, from Switzerland as described in 1900 Wis census.
Frances lived a very long time after Richard was gone at the Fair View Home in Mauston. This was the same place my
mother Opal Larson stayed. We would often visit her there. When she passed away my son Robert and I went to her
funeral. She was 99 years old and had gone blind by the time she passed away. The priest told us that she prayed her
rosary every day, all day for the people of Lyndon Station and we all should be thankful for all her prayers.

Richard wrote this cute poem about the Senzig children and manages to capture their spirit very well

The Senzig’s by Richard Ressler
There is a family down our road
To know them sure is fun
In case you haven’t met them
I’ll introduce them one by one.
Mama Senzig is the boss
She is always calm and quiet
But when the kids get out of hand
She’s the one that stops the riot.
Frank is the father’s name
He really isn’t bad
But if you ask him for too much help
It makes him kind of mad.
Francis is the oldest one
Married he should be
Perhaps he’s kind of fussy
We’ll just wait and see.
Walter is the next one
He won’t be single long
Got himself a real nice girl
To sing Love Old Sweet Song.
Dorothy is the oldest girl
Beat her if you can
She didn’t wait like Francis does
But went and got her man.
James is the tricky one
He sure is a fright
Works like crazy all day and long
Then chases girls all night.
Joseph is still in service
an all around good scout
The girls will chase him half to death
As soon as he gets out.
Eleanor is the busy one
Always has something to do
The boys say she is fussy
But I know this isn’t true.
Donald is the wise
Nothing he don’t know
Give him just a few more years
And he will steal the show.
Margaret is the youngest girl
She’s nice I’ll vouch for that
She is a pleasant happy girl
But just a little too fat.
Now that you have met the one by one by one
I’m sure you will agree
You’ll have to go a long, long way
To meet a nicer family.
